Freshwater West Car and Angle Park

Announcement by PCNP that they intend to introduce parking charges for the car parks at Angle and Freshwater West
Go back for one month and remember the threatening letters from the National Trust and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on the on line petition "we have no intention of" and accusing me and others of lying when we said this was what was  planned.
I suffered an abusive telephone call from a senior PCC official accusing me of wasting officers time and wasting charge payers money,I had nothing to do with the Petition
Remember the posts by the National Trust on the Freshwater West online petition which gained three thousand signatures most with extensive fears.
Note the letter from Darren Thomas Director of transport PCC on www.loveitorloseit.info Wed 4th November explaining PCC position
Note the Freedom of Information Requests separately made to Pembrokeshire County Council, who denied any knowledge of this despite that I have statements by people who were present at the meeting in Angle  in June 2015 with all the parties involved present.

Energy Performance Certificates for Listed Buildings

Under the first scheme there were no categories to measure Ashlar or Rubble lime mortar construction so 380,000 houses in Wales were categorised as Grade G  lowering the market price to the lowest  no improvements could raise the EPC to its correct level and  the property would be illegal to rent out  after 2018.
After a long campaign Listed Buildings were EPC exempt and those with stone walls were now include in  the assessment
Potential buyers who search the EPC Register will find the old certificate on line not the new or the EPC exempt status ,and the value to the owner will then be lowered or destroyed for mortgage purposes
The EPC can be removed from the  EPC Register, Google EPC Register, and follow the instructions to remove the Certificate from the Register, and restore the true value of the property, make it eligible for a mortgage and make it legal to rent after 2018

Trees

Pembrokeshire County Council has a well trained Maintenance Gang.
Trained in tree management and tree planting. They can only do what they are ordered to do.
Their priority has been to remove all trees that are a hazard or which will require ongoing maintenance.
Many trees have been felled.
This was acceptable when they considered replanting, but now  a  declaration by PCC has stated  that they will not plant any new trees even those to replace existing trees which have been felled for whatever reasons
Pembroke has lost half of the trees in public places in the last years, changing the face of this historic Town.
Trees provide shelter essential in such an area of high winds

Freshwater West

FROM PCC
The Shoreline Management Plan covering this part of the Pembrokeshire Coast defines the high level management policies for each of the management units around the coastline.  These plans are prepared by the relevant coastal groups, comprising local authority and representatives from the key statutory bodies.

The B4319 at Freshwater West is specifically referred to in the Lavernock Point to St Ann’s Head SMP2, ref: the policy statement on St Govan’s Head to Thorn Island.

The policy statement contains an action plan for Frainslake Sands and Freshwater West.  As part of the action plan, a study needs to be produced in the next 20 years, on the ‘long-term sustainable management strategy for the area in response to a range of future climate change scenarios and in liaison with all key stake holders’.  The report continues: ‘This will involve developing management objectives and triggers for intervention and the development and assessment of alternative options to identify the best approach to deliver the managed realignment policy’.  A decision would also need to be made regarding the future of the local B4319 access road, which may become unsustainable or detrimental to the natural dune evolution over time’.

The study would be produced by Pembrokeshire County Council with input from key stakeholders including Natural Resources Wales and the National Trust.

The County Council will monitor shoreline management issues at Freshwater West, but its current priority is the shingle bank at Newgale, which is unlikely to remain sustainable in its present form for more than 10 – 20 years and is currently the subject of public consultation.

We do not have any plans at present to abandon the B4319 road and bridge at Freshwater West, and will continue to maintain them.  The study referred to above will be undertaken at some point in the future and will look into the sustainability of the road in line with the SMP policy for this length of coastline which is ‘Managed Realignment’.

I hope the above clarifies the current situation.

Yours sincerely

NOTE THIS IS NOT NECESSARY UNTIL 2107 THE NATIONAL TRUST MUST NOW REPLACE AND MAINTAIN THE DEMOLISHED LISTED DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND PCNP MUST ENFORCE  LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THE WILFUL DESTRUCTION OF A LISTED STRUCTURE IN THEIR CARE BY THE NATIONAL TRUST

Freshwater West No reply from the National Trust Pembrokeshire Coast National Park or Pembrokeshire County Council

Nearly 3000 people have signed the online Freshwater West Petition and 200 attended the “Our Freshwater West?” event held in Pembroke Town Hall
The Online Petition was overwhelmingly against National Trust intentions to restrict access by charging
The National Trust posted a denial.
The meeting in Pembroke Town Hall had two objectors one on the grounds of who pays, the other a person involved in the care of Freshwater West who marched around shouting “Lies lies all lies” and had to be asked to leave by three of the women present.
Most remembered the same words and tactics used by the National Trust to Charge for Parking on the Stackpole Estate in 2014 now charging £5 at four separate sites.
Operation Neptune a subsidiary of the National Trust is slowly taking over more of the Coast of the United Kingdom and is promoting commercial development and introducing charges for access to the sea.
An admirable concept but at what cost to our children.
The listed Bridge Chamber and Sluice and their importance to the maintenance of the SSSI as originally designated and the abandonment of maintenance of these structures and the Medieval and 1790 Water Management Systems in the valley in the 80s, we heard many more personal experiences of these events.
Those in charge in the National Trust did not realise why the systems were essential to the stability of the beach and of the watercourse when they were abandoned.
