Liquid Natural Gas

The two LNG TERMINALS have imported half their projected imports. The price of LNG has doubled , Pembroke Power Station newly opened will be uncompetitive to operate. Already there have been 18 violations of the license to operate. The License is under review by the EU. Blairs disastrous legacy?

One hundred yards of uncut hedge

WE drove around Pembrokeshire looking for berries friuits and nuts, foods for wildlife
Mile after mile of hedges flailed to the ground, no shelter or food value at all.
We sat by this hedge and counted over one hundred birds  feeding. Black birds thrushes field fares  redwing , many small birds.
All other hedges were deserted no birds at all, magpies in the fields only.
SOLUTION
Pass a law to make it mandatory to cut only half the hedges on any property per year. To start we could make the Transport Agency and the County Councils cut only one side of every road per this will make it possible to allow wildlife to survive the winter. It must be done soon before we have lost indigenous and migratory birds for ever.

Safe as houses

The controversial siting and operation of LNG plants so close to settlements and the granting of a license to operate for Pembroke Power Station, on the basis of the European Directive on the siting of Nuclear  Power Plants,no evacuation plans and the closing of emergency services add to our fears about the safety of the local population within the LD 50 Zone.

Yet again PCC do not enforce planning

Another new house exposed to public view surrounding trees felled all plot levelled. What is so special about this developer or owner.

Milton springs

This source which supplied South Pembrokeshire was polluted by the sixties. Thatcher closed all free public water supplies in 1970, now travellers can only buy bottled water.

What used to be

This was a stand of magnificent beech trees aged decaying a massive  shelter and food supply. Protected by brambles lining the paths to stop people being injured by falling branches. New broom public access remove the natural barriers to remove danger to free roaming humans fell all the mature trees.

Pembroke River

These are the spawning grounds which have been cut off for 40 years by the Pembroke Barrage and the locked sluices at the Mill Bridge.
Until the 1950s salmon sea trout brown trout lamphreys used to spawn here. Eels freely set off to sea and returning elvers thronged the feeder streams. All this ceased with the barrage in the 60s illegally built to provide permanent stagnant fresh water to surround the castle, to cover up the tidal foreshore with water. To attract tourists,BUT  sea weed covered foreshore and ever changing mud banks are magic, a haven for wildlife. The Mill Pond was a spawning and nursery ground for thousands of bass and mullet. Three pairs of swans raised cygnets now hundreds of swans foul the stagnant waters and no cygnets survive.PCC spend thousands to create this frequently eutrophic stinking mess.

Modern Times

Very few planning applications, The Local Development Plan , the Enterprise Zone, the planning applications for four Incinerators.
Massive opposition no notice taken, our second Neo Fascist Government is paying back their backers.
Conservation is no longer on on the agenda, all legislation is full of unforseen consequences. Their policy of creative anarchy is working no one can oversee the their changes.
Everything we have fought for over the years is being dismantled in favour of a free for all led by the greedy and selfish.
Ian Campbell

Help

Stackpole National Trust, a wildlife refuge for 70 years now being opened up for tourists their cars and their dogs. Everything must be made to earn money despite the competing NEEDS for Conservation.
New Manager extensive degradation promotion then move on leaving another offence behind.

More disfiguaration and potential disasters. Waterway.

The damage affluence and a poor planning deparrtment backed by an authority which will not enforce anything as it might cost money.
Two latest cleared waterway banks to give someone of little taste but much arrogance a view.
 Another exposed new house
Clearing for another I hope the buyers realise that PCC does not see it as their responsibility(allegedly)to enforce building conditions, and are not trapped in unsalable houses when the soil starts to move.
This what the planning conditions stipulate densely wooded slopes not terra forming by JCB and no soil stalbilisation before building.

What is happpening

These wooden objects were covered in lichens algae and mosses a month ago they  appear to have been pressure washed. We are downwind of fifty gas and petroleum flares and a recently commissioned LNG Power  Station. But no one will own up the Environment Agency and Pembrokeshire County Council both say they are not interested
