Freshwater West Gupton

Dead cow pats six months after being voided, normally degraded by the weather but here in a sheltered place. insecticides or vermicides?

TRUST CATTLE TO RESTORE FENLAND
A partnership of farming and conservation wrecked by the National Trust
There is a complete denial of history by the National Trust, the pioneer drainage scheme by the Cawdor Estate won the Royal Agricultural Society Gold Medal in the 1790s
The National Trust demolished the part that made it self maintaining for over two hundred years, relying on retrospective permission given over ten years after the demolition.
.The SSSI and farmed land have now been inundated with freshwater for months. The attempts by the NT to remove pebbles are not a solution as the next tide replaces them. When removed the water level returns to its historic level with in an hour.
The only solution to the problem is to replace the demolished Listed Culvert to allow salt water in on spring tides.
The SSSI was set up to maintain the unique calcareous  water meadows which require occasional sea water otherwise they rapidly become alder carr and lose their winter populations of migratory birds and lose one of the few secure remaining sites for ground nesting birds.
Ideally the SSSI and the surrounding grazing should be farmed organicaly as the cow pats which grow the organisms to feed the hatchling chicks are contaminated by Systemic Vermicides and Insecticides which kill or sterilise the growing birds.
NRW do not understand the basic biology.
FWW is a storm beach its profile changes daily by up to 2meters  and returns on subsequent tides but  the diffusion of the water from the chamber over a hundred meters has altered the normal sequence all the sand has gone  this happens regularly but never so completely.Drainage management is essential.
THE DESIGNATION SSSI WAS BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY RARE CALCAREOUS WATERMEADOW
THE NT NOW CALLS IT SEDGE RICH FENLAND THERE ARE MANY OF THESE
ONE IS ALKALINE THE LATTER ACIDIC
TEN YEARS OF NEGLECT HAS OVERTURNED TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP
ONCE A HAVEN FOR MIGRATING WILDFOWL AND WADERS IS NOW BEING DESTROYED BY ARROGANT IGNORANCE
