Hidden History


In the early part of the war preparations were made to hold up invaders.At the north end of the Mill Bridge temporary concrete blocks were rolled into the road to block the traffic. When invasion was not feared the blocks were rolled over the side into the Castle Pond, through a gap in the parapet.They can be seen at the foot of the Cornstore Quay, when the pond is drained
